CNI-EZLN Against the Aggression Toward the People of Alvaro Obregón, Juchitán, Oaxaca
To the media
To the solidarity organizations
To the organizations in defense of human rights
To the dignified people of Álvaro Obregón, Juchitán, Oaxaca
Sisters and Brothers.
With rage and indignation we see from our towns, tribes, communities, organizations and neighborhoods, that the bad government through its political parties of all colors boasts, demonstrating its lack of shame, while they continue attacking our people and their political parties continue trying to impose division in our communities, our word will not tire denouncing and screaming: enough already!
On the 14th of May, in a shameless and vicious manner, the police and body guards of the candidate PAN-PRD Gloria Sánchez López, dared to aim the guns of their assassins at the dignified people of Álvaro Obregón, Juchitán, wounding six compañeros that were in the assembly, defending their physical and political territory, from the wind projects of death. Their “clean energy” is dirty with blood, corruption and death. The candidates of all of the political parties feel they can benefit from the impunity given to the criminal groups that belong to the bad governments of the state of Oaxaca and the country. They also believe that with bullets they can change the consciousness and kill the dignity of the Binizza people.
National politics continually make it more evident that the political class has no shame. They believe that they can attack, threaten and intimidate the dignified struggles of the people. With aggression and violence they try to instigate fear in the dignified hearts of those that defend the earth, water, and wind. From the four cardinal points of our indigenous territories we say no they can’t. No they can’t take away the rage in our hearts that concerts into solidarity, no they can’t uproot our dignity to struggle to defend our territory and life of our people, no they can’t intimidate the dignified struggle of the Binizza people that honors the national indigenous congress of which they have been members for many years.
Therefore, sisters and brothers of Álvaro Obregón, Juchitán, Oaxaca, from the four corners of our territories we say that you are not alone! You are not alone! We declare ourselves against the acts of the bad government of Mexico and Oaxaca, through this henchman Saúl Vicente Vázquez, municipal president of Juchitán, carried out against the rights of self-determination and autonomy of the people of Álvaro Obregón.
We denounce the cowardly aggressions with firearms on the 14th of May, and the threats that have continued. They are an attempt to intimidate the community of Álvaro Obregón that has opposed the installation of wind projects in their territory. The politicians have the courage to believe that if they cant obtain their profits through the installation of these projects of death, they believe that they can frighten the people to succeed. They were wrong!
For all these reasons we declare:
— The government of Gabino Cue and of Saúl Vicente Vázquez responsible for the aggressions that occurred and continue against the community assembly of Álvaro Obregón, Juchitán, Oaxaca.
— We demand the investigation and punishment of those responsible for the shootings that were carried out by the municipal police of Juchitán and the bodyguards of Gloria Sánchez López.
— That they cancel the wind projects that they are trying to impose in the territory of the community of Álvaro Obregón
— We demand that Gloriá Sánchez López and all of the candidates stop their attempt to impose their system of parties onto to the community of Álvaro Obregón
— We demand that the legitimate right of the Binizza people to elect their own authorities in an autonomous manner is respected
— To the community of Álvaro Obregón, Juchitán, Oaxaca we say, you are not alone. As the CNI, we will be watching to ensure these actions don’t happen again and that we will listen to the voice from all corners of this bloody country.
For the integral reconstitution of our people!
Never more a Mexico without us!
